What is BEST?

BEST Robotics is the robotics season in the fall, usually taking up the first semester of the school year. The head coaches are Mr. Gadd and Mrs. Bartlett.

Within 6 weeks, students will design and build a robot that can perform certain, specific tasks in three minutes. The mission of BEST is to “engage and excite students about engineering, science, and technology as well as inspire them to pursue careers in these fields.”

Not only do our Eagle Robotics members participate as a part of BEST Team 58, we also mentor Ereckson Middle School and their own BEST Robotics team.

Over the course of the season, members will compile an Engineering Notebook, complete with a research paper on the game theme, details on design iterations, and team strategy and structure. These students work closely with the programming and fabrication teams. In addition to building and designing a robot, students will also pursue creative and business-related pursuits. The exhibit design team will construct and design a creative, large, and immersive display related to the season’s theme. At competition, students will talk to the judges about the exhibit. Finally, the Marketing Presentation team will give a formal presentation about the robot and the “company” as if they were discussing future plans with potential investors. At Eagle Robotics, both exhibit and Marketing Presentation teams have try-outs, so make sure to apply if you are interested!
